OUR FAVOURITE PLACE

Covering 60 hectares of land and 32 hectares of vineyards, all our wines originate from one of the most perfect terroirs in Portugal.

IN VINO VERITAS

The Tapada do Chaves estate encompasses two of the oldest working vineyards in the Alentejo, with records dating back to 1901 (old red vineyard) and 1903 (old white vineyard).

ESSENCE OF THE WINE

Producing wines of greater freshness and elegance, the Tapada do Chaves range includes distinctive wines that encapsulate the character of the Alentejo region like no other label does.

THE ART OF WINEMAKING

In a project that translates the manual process of winemaking, Tapada do Chaves represents a “return to origins” in its cellar, with the wine maturing in Portuguese and French oak barrels.

TRADITION

The cellar combines traditional winemaking techniques with the most up-to-date technology, ensuring the highest quality while retaining the typical character of the wines.

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

In addition to using sustainable methods in the agriculture, biodynamics come into play.

TASTE THE EXCELLENCE

Brimming with superb potential, elegant and full-bodied, the Tapada do Chaves wines are specifically geared towards lovers of rare and truly extraordinary wines, a faithful representative of the classic Alentejo wines of the highest quality.

OUR WINES

Lying in 60 hectares of land, 32 hectares of which are vineyards, the Tapada do Chaves estate is located in a region heavily influenced by the nearby mountain range (Serra de São Mamede) and surrounding forestry and agriculture which endow it with a specific microclimate that plays a crucial role in the quality and typical character of the wines produced.

THE TASTE OF QUALITY

The history of Tapada do Chaves dates back to the early 20th century when the Chaves family planted the first vineyards on its small estate on the slopes of Serra de São Mamede. The story of passionate dedication to the land had begun.
