In 2008 the winter and spring were cold and damp, although there was low rainfall throughout the Alentejo. These climatic conditions initially caused delayed plant cycles, leading to smaller bunches of grapes. Summer arrived suddenly and was extremely hot to start with, but temperatures became high but normal, with hot days and cold nights, allowing a balanced maturing of the grapes.
